Description
Oaxacan Wood Carved Animal, Snail 104
These imaginative and whimsical wood animals are hand-carved and painted in tiny villages by artists in the state of Oaxaca, home of the Zapotec Indians in Southern Mexico.
Each carved animal is handmade from Copal wood, using machetes and pocket knives. Each creature is hand-carved, sanded, and painted with meticulous care and detail. It can take up to a week to complete just one animal.
Each animal is an original work of art and no two pieces are identical. Approximate dimensions are 2.5″ – 4″ in length.
